The Cleveland WPF User Group is devoted to Windows Presentation Foundation and Silverlight technologies. The meetings are held every 3rd Tuesday discussing a variety of topics related to WPF and Silverlight. The meetings are free and open to the public. In addition, prizes such as software, books, and t-shirts are awarded at every meeting. Afterwards, many members meet at a local restaurant to network and socialize. Please join us at the next meeting and see it all first hand.
Topic: Multithreading beyond the lock keyword by Gael Fraiteur (SharpCrafters)
Description: As multi-core hardware becomes ubiquitous, system developers can no longer rely on a superficial knowledge of multithreading programming. In this session, Gael Fraiteur will dust off low-level synchronization primitives and show how to design programs that make better use of multiple cores. Playing directly with low-level primitives however can be overly complex, and we will see how large-scale multi-core software can be simplified using design patterns and how some these patterns can be ultimately simplified using aspect-oriented programming.
Speaker: Gael Fraiteur started coding in the early 90s and never stopped. He is the author of PostSharp, the popular aspect-oriented framework for .NET, and the founder of SharpCrafters. He’s Belgian and lives in the Czech Republic with his wife and five kids.
Date: Monday, June 18, 2012, 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM
Please note the June meeting will take place on Monday, instead of the 3rd Tuesday.
